Photos, to help explain the details

The Game

The description of the game is given according to Denison rules, where the original beersaw was built and the first games of beersaw were ever played. Other variations on the game exist, but in this first description, only the Denison version will be provided.
The equipment consists of two see-saws, or teeter totters, modified into beersaws. The major difference between a beersaw and a standard see saw is that a beersaw has a bucket attached to the middle of the saw, directly between the two ends of the board. Look at the picture if this confuses you. Below the end of each board is a cinder block. The object is to balance on the board with a person at each end, not touching the cinder block below. Every time you touch the cinder block, it is called "a touch." Typically, "Touch" is yelled out when either end of the board touches the block. Seven touches equals end of the game, and a loss for the team that reached seven.
Four people are required to play the game, two teams of two people. You are working with the person at the other end of your board, competing against the people on the other one.
Each beersawer must have a beer in their hand, if they expect to win. Cans work best for this. Bottles are acceptable for scrimmages and casual beersawing, but should only be used in a tournament or official game if all players have bottles.
The object is to drink your beer and throw the empty can into the other team's bucket. This is called "making a bucket." A team wins from making three buckets.
Thus, the game can be won through three buckets, or lost through three touches. A ref at the each end of the beersaw is encouraged, to keep track of touches.
There is a third way for the game to end. If anyone ever falls off the saw, it is an automatic loss.
There are many variations on the game and other details that will be provided in later posts.

A Photo of the Beginning

This is a photo of the construction of the first beersaw. You might be asking yourself something. What is beersaw? That will be explained in the next post.

The Beginning

Beersaw was invented in a public park in Akron, OH, in January of 2008. It was first imagined on a standard teeter totter, with no beer. Within a week, three of the four discoverers reunited at the college the three of them attended, and built the first beersaw ever. At the time, it looked like nothing more than a very rustic seesaw. By the end of the day, they had played the first ever game of beersaw.
